For instance, 5 subway lines and Guangzhou-Wuhan high-speed railway have already put into operation. 8 track transportation lines are still under construction and will be completed before the Asian Games.
Secondly, more cultural facilities will be finished by 2010, including a library, a historical museum, and exhibition centers and so on. At that time, we will enjoy a fantastic visual feast. Liu Jiangnan, director of Guangzhou's sport bureau, said, most sports facilities will be upgraded. Eleven new stadiums will be built and 60 existing stadiums will be renovated.
We can't deny that, problems are always going along with development. There are still some areas where more effort is needed.
First of all, correcting English language signs and avoiding "chinglish" have been regarded as the most important thing. The standard to evaluate a cosmopolitan city is reflected by the soft powers. I think with the change of the language environment, the foreign visitors will have a more enjoyable stay in Guangzhou.

China is a country with 5000years history, but also goes along with some bad lifestyle. . Although there are a sea of signs include no smoking, no littering in public places. Chinese people always choose to ignore them. To be good citizens, we should comply with these rules, abandon the rudeness and showcase we are cultivated. In addition to these actions, we need greatly strengthen our awareness of the environment and put this awareness into action by planting trees and saving energy. It's glad to see that, according to the government's blue print, the coverage of trees and grass will reach 45 percent by 2010.
The last one is how to make the 16th Guangzhou Asian Games more cost-effective and recover our investment as soon as possible. It's clear that, Chinese government spends a large amount of money on Asian Games-related infrastructure, such as building subways, high-speed railway, repaving roads and rebuilding some landmarks. It's obviously that a part of the spending can be recovered in the ticket and souvenir sales, and tourists' consumption on hotels, entertainment and shopping. Nevertheless, the total cost can not be fully recovered in this way. I believe it's a tough question that government needs to figure out. What's more, as to achieve sustainable development, we should maximize utilization of the Asian Games-related venues and facilities.
